Name: Egger Stiffwind of the Savage Shadows
Age: 23 seasons.
Gender: Male.
Species: Stoat.
Fur Color: Walnut brown, white belly, dark tip of the tail.
Eye Color: Black.
Distinguishing Marks: None.
Residence: Mossflower wood.
[Usual Description]
Egger has ruddy brown fur. He is wearing his leather vest and has his haulin sack tied to his back. Strapped to the sack is his array of weapons, with the exception of his 'stickin knife' which he keeps in a sheath on his right hip. His claws are long and tough, and though his teeth aren't exceptionally sharp, he has a powerful bite. He is a muscular specimen, quick and tough, accustomed to solo hunting or fighting in small groups.
[Weapons and Equipment]
Tough brown leather vest, plastic buttons, two pockets.
Haulin Sack (Leather bag with straps, backpack)
Bow and Arrers (Old bow, cheap arrows, flimsy quiver, bow dangles from a strap on Haulin Sack when not carried)
Stabbin Knife (Small iron shortsword, hip scabbard)
Extra Stabbin Knife (Small iron shortsword, in a scabbard inside the Haulin Sack)
Choppa (Old small Woodsman's axe, rather dull, dangles from a strap on Haulin Sack when not carried)
Gutsticker (Spear, iron spearhead, cheap wood, dangles from a strap on Haulin Sack when not carried)
Whetstone (Glorified river-rock)
Wad of string, several needles
Wood chisel, iron tip
2 Square-inch piece of bark
11ft coil of hemp rope
Wad of old cloth
Empty clay jug
[Personality]
Egger is a few measures smarter than most stoats, though that doesn't mean too much. He is a believer in cycles, and in the roles of predator and prey in the world, and is proud of his talents as a hunter. Among allies, he is loyal to a fault, but he never pulls punches with a foe, even one he may respect. Egger is deeply disdainful of hares, and of the sedentary lifestyle of the creatures of Redwall. Despite this jealousy, Egger has a secret passion for writing, and has spent seasons trying to teach himself. In all things he values self-control, though he can't help relishing the excitement of combat.
[Background]
He was the only son of his father in the litter he was born in, but there was no lack of loyalty among the Stiffwind family. He was raised in the wild as a hunter, predating on young hares, mice, voles, small birds, and even a fish or two. When he grew old enough to venture out on his own, he headed south to Mossflower just as Winter was ending.
[Talents]
Aside from the usual set of Stoat skills (Fightin, Eatin, Chasin, Snoozin), and his desperate attempts to become literate, Egger is a fan of his own equipment. A latent hoarding nature makes him keep just about everything he finds, and he tries to teach himself to maintain his things. He keeps his head in a fight, follows orders, and prefers to be under leadership, rather than be a leader himself. He also is a home-grown mycologist, studying and harvesting fungi from the forests and tunnels.
[Character Play History]
Practice Makes Perfect
The otter Tuck Quickspear briefly interrupts Eggers' mealtime.
Fish-eyes and Sorrow
Egger encounters the ferret Khezur Kalu down by River Moss.
Pleasant Thoughts and Rude Awakenings
Egger stands guard as Awnia Snowflower is called to Ryfar Darkspur's tent.
