Curran Saplebrush Statistics
Name: Curran Sapplebrush Age: 20 seasons Gender: Female Species: Red Squirrel Fur: White Eyes: Rosey Pink Height: 18 paws high (9 inches) Weight: 150 acorns (11 oz) Occupation: Tribe Leader Residency: Pine grove near Salamandastron. Piercings: Three ear piercings- two in right ear, one in the left. Weaponry: A heavy, traveling spear with barbed cross guards and a leaf-shaped blade; Bow and arrows, short sword, and a sling. Other apparel: Leather belt and gold arm bands. Personality
Curran is not an easily pleased squirrel; fair, but tough, Curran is known for order and strict discipline. None dare cross her, and all do as they are told. Curran does not rule with an iron fist however, and squirrels are free to do what they will, so long as Curran's word is obeyed. A squirrel of justice, Curran's main goal is to keep her tribe from danger and those who would wish to do them harm or cast them into slavery. As such, Curran enjoys hunting vermin, especially the sea corsairs and swamp folk that are near their pine grove- because of that, Curran is an excellent tracker. Curran is known for her leniency towards squirrelbabes, often scolding them briefly rather than make an example of them with punishments. Her theory is that babes will always act like babes, and when they grow up, they will know better... or suffer her anger. Curran does not suffer fools gladly, and tolerates idleness only barely. She does not see a day from work as a day worth spent. Fooling Curran is not easy to do; she takes everything told to her with a grain of salt, and makes sure to think it over critically, before coming to a decision- often quick enough that it would seem like she never thought it at all. Curran is master over her temper, her anger checked just bellow the surface. Those who know her wrath, fear her silence more than her tongue. Curran's pink eyes mask her emotions, instead showing the authority and confidence needed for a beast of her position. Curran has made mistakes in her leadership, but has never led her tribe into danger that they cannot come out of. History
The history of Curran's tribe is one that we all know, as least partially. Descendants Jukka the Sling and her tribe of squirrels, Curran is descended directly from Ruro herself, the leader after Jukka's death. Never changing, the squirrels of the Pine Grove still speak in their ancient dialect, confusing to those to hear them. The leadership role passed down from female to female of Ruro's line, until Curran was born. All the squirrels were surprised to find their leader, then Curran's mother, Breeze, to have given birth to an albino squirrel. All albinos are known to be of a weak disposition, and surely the babe could never become their next leader? Controversy continued as Breeze began to teach Curran the ways of sling and javelin despite Curran's early signs of weakness. The squirrels did not want a weak squirrel as a leader, and a few began to wonder if their leader's judgement was still sane. Breeze's mate had been killed by sea vermin, and out of grief, she would not take another, so she would not bear anymore babes. Breeze was never the same after that fateful day. Perseverance was Curran's motto growing up, and over the years, Curran slowly went from being the weakest to one of the toughest squirrels in her tribe. Nobody doubted her now, and her ability with sling and javelin was unrivaled. It was no surprise, when Curran's mother died of an illness one winter, that Curran would take her place. Hard work was what got her to where she was, and she is apt to remind anybody she meets of that. Ye Olde Art [/font]

Russo Saplebrush Statistics
Name: Russo Sapplebrush Age: 8 seasons Gender: Male Species: Red Squirrel Fur: Red; cream underbelly; blonde, bushy tail. Eyes: Dark Brown Height: 12 paws high (6 inches) Weight: 90 acorns (8 oz) Occupation: Tribe squirrel Residency: Curran's Tribe (in the Salamandstron Beach sub board) Piercings: none Weaponry: A stout, traveling spear with barbed cross guards and a leaf-shaped blade; Sling and javelin. Other apparel: a moss green cap with a gull feather stick out of the side, and a simple tunic of equal green, cinched at the waist by a leather belt. Personality
Russo (pronounced Rue-so), is like all young male squirrels: brazen and virile. He thinks he is unstoppable and nature's gift to the ladies. Having a mother who is the leader of the tribe, meant that Russo was raised among other females and so his relationship with Curran is one born mainly out of respect for his leader. He won't admit it, but Russo cares for his mother very much, although they only speak on passing terms. He does, however, get away with more things than most other young squirrels. Russo likes to show off his abilities, which were passed down from his mother, to any young squirrel maiden present. Russo has a deep, rough voice for his age, which many maidens of any species find handsome. Unlike his mother and the older squirrels of his tribe, Russo wishes to explore the world outside of their grove, and is naturally curious to outsiders, instead of warding them off. Russo shares a similar dislike with the tribe for vermin of any kind. Where injustice prevails, Russo is known to make the hot-headed and rash decisions of youth, although his heart is in the right place. History
Russo was born to Curran and a rogue squirrel. He had never known his father, but that might explain for Russo's roving ways. If Curran does not mate and bear a female child, then Russo will be the first male leader in a long line of female leaders. Not ready for the burden of a babe, Russo was passed about to lactating females until he was weaned. Russo does not know it, but his scouting duties, and roving heart, worry his mother very much, fearing that he will leave her without an heir. During the day, Russo can be found in the surrounding forest, and he has even been to the mountain stronghold, Salamandstron, once or twice but only in times of war when the tribe needs help from the Badger Lord to vanquish their enemies. Even though he may seem big and strong and tough to Maple, Bracken can't back down because he knows his sister looks up to him. History
