Rules
General
- First and foremost, by signing up here signifies that you've read and understand these rules so there shouldn't be any issues. Right? Right.
- We follow the one account per person, not character, rule here. We don't need 800 accounts for 15 people.
- You can fight, argue, whatever all that you want in-character, but out of character bickering will not be tolerated. Take it to PM or something else, but if I find it on the c-box, you will both be banned for a certain amount of time, no matter who was 'right' or who was 'wrong.'
- Respect is key. No one wants to put up with a disrespectful A-hole. So please, be nice to other members and staff. It's not really that hard.
- Accounts that have not been used for over a month will be deleted.
- Any account that has missed an activity check will have their characters archived. To get them out the archives, you'll have to post with them in-character again in order to prove that you're active. Just logging in or chatting in the c-box does not prove that.
- We have a warning system here. Only you and staff can see it, but it exists and we follow the 'three strikes, you're out' rule. So three strikes, and you're banned.
- Do not post anywhere (except out of character) until your character is accepted.
In-Character/Posting Rules
- As per the usual on forums, there is no god-modding, power-playing, or metagaming.
- There is no minimum or maximum word count. However, I want you to be conscious of the other role players. Think quality over quantity.
- Cussing is allowed in-character, but I don't think that Redwallers (or even vermin) in this time period use curses such as fuck, mother-fucker, shit and the like. So really I'd like to limit it to 'hell' and 'damn.'
- Threads are allowed a rating of PG-13 MAX. Violence is allowed, but I won't tolerate sexual situations. I don't need my images of Redwall animals destroyed because an otter and a squirrel decide to hump each other's brains out.
- Which brings me to my next rule: Inter-species mating is not allowed. Previously said otter and squirrel may like each other, but they can't do much more than that. The otter has to get with an otter and the squirrel has to get with a squirrel.
- If you make a mole, hare, or highlander character (whose accents, I think, are the strongest), you must write their speech in their accents. There are no moles like Egbert or hares like Buckler here (I may be more lenient on hares without accents if they live at Redwall). So if you're going to make one of these, make sure you brush up on their dialects.
- I think this next aspect will be the most fun: You see this 'Martin the Warrior' account? Not only is it the admin account, but you will be seeing him popping into threads every once in a while, spicing things up and handing out prophecies and the like. How fun is that going to be? Very fun!
- Liquid time is allowed here, but not liquid mind. Your character cannot know what is happening in another thread. You can also put your character in as many threads as you can handle. But make sure you're aware of how your muse will be sapped if you're in too many. You don't want to overload some people and short-change others.
Character Rules
- Make/keep as many characters as you can handle here. If you feel like you can't keep them all, feel free to put them up for adoption.
- Gender ratio is not a big deal, so don't ask which gender you should make. Make whatever you want!
- I understand that we all want our characters to be set apart from the others so I'll be allowing different kinds of birthmarks (white patches, dark patches, bald-spots, etc.) for characters, BUT I will not be allowing really obscure markings, such as a lightning bolt on the forehead. Mostly it will be a white paw or a dark patch over an eye and stuff like that.
- The strangest eye-color I will allow is blue if your character is not white. Also, albino/white/black characters will be allowed in very small numbers.
- Orphaned characters are allowed either in the Abbey or at Salamandastron, since there are adults there to take care of them. BUT young orphans wandering around Mossflower are NOT allowed unless you have it plotted BEFORE CREATION that someone will find them and bring them back wherever. It also has to be listed in their application who will be finding them and where they will be residing when found.
- If you are making a vermin character, they are vermin. They are not allowed at the Abbey or Salamandastron. You cannot make a vermin character that was born and raised at either the Abbey or Salamandastron, no matter how nice you say that they are. However you can buy a "good" vermin character from the store once you earn enough Valuables.
- This is Redwall, so species OF Redwall should be the ones that are played, aka common rodents, birds, reptiles, and other mammals of Great Britain. There will be no chinchillas or capybaras or any of those.
- You have to apply for you characters to have certain jobs, such as Gatekeeper, Bellringer, Head Cook, etc. Abbot/Abbess, Badger Lord/Lady, Log a Log, and Foremole are a bit more illustrious and require a more in-depth application.
- You will have to buy certain species from the store, such as badgers, foxes, cats, martens, sables, owls, and adders. If you are applying for a badger lord or lady, you do not have to buy a badger. If your application is not chosen and you want to keep that badger, you will have to pay for it.
Time/Aging
- A season, in-character, lasts 4 weeks, so a year lasts 4 months.
- Every season your character is alive, it gains a season, which is how we measure ages. So one season = 3 months, technically and 4 seasons = 1 year.
- Dibbuns are dibbuns for about 4 seasons. When dibbuns reach 5 seasons, they will go into Abbey school and learn the basics (reading, writing, arithmetic). Abbeybeasts finish Abbey school when they are 10 seasons.
- On average, the oldest an Abbey beast can live is between 80 and 100 seasons. Vermin will not live as long as animals that live in the Abbey or at Salamandastron.
- In short, think of a season to a Redwall character being that of a year to a human. So developmentally, a 2 season old dibbun is about equal to a 2 year old human, thereabouts.
Residence Rules
- As said before, vermin cannot live at either the Abbey or Salamandastron. They MUST live in Mossflower.
- However, goodbeasts (mice, squirrels, otters, etc.) can live either at the Abbey, Salamandastron, OR in Mossflower.
- If you have a character that lives in a group or by themselves and you want them to have a specific residence, you can PM Poizuun with the following application and she can make a sub-board in the designated area.
Character's Name: Name of the character that you want to have a home Territory: Where you want the home to be Description: The description of the area and house that you want to be on the sub-board
OR
Group Name: Name of the group who you want to have a territory Group Leader: Name of the leader of the group Territory: Where you want the group's land to be Description: The description of the area that you want to be on the sub-board
